Precipitated Barium Sulfate Properties
Chemical formula: BaSO4, Molecular Weight: 233.39, CAS: NO.7727-43-7, National Standard: GB/T2889-2017, Appearance: Colorless Oblique Crystal or White No Styling Powder, Relative Density 4.50 (15ºC), Melting Point 1580 ºC. MOHS hardness:3.0, Index of refraction: 1.64, Solubility: 20 ºC: 0.00024g/100g water. It can absorb harmful rays.It almost insoluble in water, ethanol, organic solvents, acids and alkalies. But it can dissolved in boiling hot sulfuric acid. It Is the only non-toxic common barium salt.
Precipitation barium sulfate is produced in advanced chemical precipitation method, good physical properties, low mechanical impurity, even fineness; White powder or paste, non-toxic, insoluble in water, stable chemical property; Can absorb X-ray, and endow the materials with high density and surface finish, therefore widely used in paints, printing ink, coatings, plastics, rubber, chips, friction plate, ceramics, glass, electronics, cosmetics
Modified Barium Sulfate Application
M-series can be widely applied as filled object for various coatings, powder coatings,industrial paints, enamels, leather industry, dyeing industry, printing ink, plastically materials,photosensitive papers,plastics, pigments, cosmetics, batteries etc. It can be used quite successfully in adhesives, coatings and sealants.
M-series can improve conspicuously surface gloss, adhesion, leveling properties of the product and reduce production costs.

Reaction→Surface treatment→Washing pressure filtration→Dry & Grinding→Packaging
Traditional Production Process
(1)BaS+Na2SO4=BaSO4↓+Na2S
The cost of the process is the lowest, but it has sodium sulfide byproduct, the finished product whiteness, impurities are generally unstable.
(2)BaS+H2SO4=BaSO4↓+H2S↑
The cost of the process is low, but the process has toxic hydrogen sulfide byproducts, equipment and environmental requirements..
(3)BaCl2+Na2SO4=BaSO4↓+2NaCl
This process is generally a by-product of some factories in the simple processing, few factories use this process.
(4)Ba(OH)2 +H2SO4=BaSO4↓+H2O
The process is simple, the cost of raw materials is high, but it will get high product purity, with the uniform and controllable particle size.
